Introduction to Hillslopes and Hillslope Processes: Creep, Mass Wasting, and Diversity of Forms

Hillslopes are the most common landform on Earth. Here I take you through a tour of their shapes and the “creep” and “mass wasting” processes that casue them to evolve into characteristic forms.

Learning Goals

  • Appreciate the diversity of hillslopes
  • Know that creep forms rounded hillslopes whereas mass wasting forms rugged hillslopes
  • Obtain a mental map for the path that the follow-up lessons will, well, follow!
