Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) Dating
Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) dating is one of the most commonly used geochronological tools for geomorphologists. Not only does it allow us to determine how much time has passed since a grain was last exposed to sunlight (a useful premise for those interested in surface processes), its wide applicability to aeolian, fluvial, and glacial settings makes it particularly useful for understanding how landscapes evolve over time.
